U is for Unseen
U is for Unseen
Not every blessing arrives with a bow. Some slip in quietly while you’re putting away groceries, folding laundry, answering a text or watching the light change while you’re looking out the window.
The unseen blessings of everyday life are easy to take for granted or to overlook because they don’t interrupt us, they support us.
The face that my legs carry me from room to room without asking permission. The way my tea stays hot in my yeti cup for hours when I’m too busy to sit and drink it. The sound of the furnace kicking on when it’s just starting to feel chilly. No spot light, no applause, just provision.
I try to notice the gifts that are built into the background of my life.
A green light when I’m running late. A friendly cashier. A text from a friend who had no idea I needed encouragement at that moment, but the timing was perfect. The way the grandkids giggles linger on in my mind long after I have left them or the FaceTime call ends.
These are not headline miracles, they are daily gifts.
Scripture says “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness”.~ Lamentations 3:22-23. So his mercies/blessings are not knew in every crisis or in every breakthrough… they are “new every morning”
The unseen blessings are often the ones that keep everything else from unraveling. The steady health we take for granted. The safe drive home we may not have even prayed about. The breath in our lungs that we didn’t have to earn.
I think gratitude grows sharper when we train our eyes to see what isn’t necessarily obvious.
U is for unseen, for the hidden things, from the mercies tucked into routine, for the grace woven so tightly into everyday life that we almost mistake it for ordinary.
Maybe the miracle isn’t always what changes, maybe it’s what sustains.
Today I’ll choose to notice as many unseen blessings as I can.
