When The World Rejects What It Needs The Most
Although I am still very sad today about Charlie, I am so angry and I believe anger is a proper response to something like this. Even Jesus got angry, it’s mentioned several times in the gospels. I was watching a news show this morning with a minister speaking, who said “we should use anger to do good, to motivate us to say “this is wrong” and to do something about it. Anger is like concrete, when first mixed, still moveable and can be used to change things, but, resentment is like when concrete sets and hardens. Holding on to resentment is like hardening your heart.” I agree with this.
Not only am I angry and saddened about the tragic events fore mentioned, but the comments and reels and things I’ve seen on line are so hateful. Many people are happy about Charlie’s murder. How can anybody think they are a decent person when they can celebrate the murder of another human being? Funny thing is, these evil doers think by snuffing Charlie out, the truth will be silenced, think again. His ministry is going to be heard and popularized more than ever, because of his death. He didn’t die in vain, that’s for sure. Evil people can’t handle the truth and therefore try to stifle it.
The truth has always carried a sharp edge. It doesn’t bend to comfort and it doesn’t soften itself for fragile ears to hear. When someone like Charlie dares to speak it, especially in a sinful world, built on illusions and denial, the reaction is rarely gratitude, instead it’s resistance. People struggle with the truth because it exposes things they would rather keep hidden. For many people it is easier to try to stifle the truth than to face the discomfort of change. I know the truth of Christ is not always welcomed and infact many resist it. The gospel convicts and who likes to feel convicted? The gospel calls us to repent and transform. Because of that, some would rather silence the message than wrestle with what it means for our lives and what we are called by God to do. No amount of silencing can change what is real, Christ’s truth is unshakable.
Jesus said “you will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm until the end will be saved” Matthew 10:22. Even when Jesus was here on earth, people couldn’t handle the truth he was accused of wrong doing, mocked, spat on, beaten and crucified, all because he spoke the truth. After all this time, thousands of years, this hasn’t changed. When somebody speaks the truth of Jesus, about sin, forgiveness, grace or hope, they are often met with ridicule or easily dismissed. I know some of my “friends” and my family think I’m crazy because of my beliefs. That saddens me, but I love them just the same. I realize it is because their hearts are hard and they are not ready to hear or accept the truth. I continue to pray for them to open their hearts, eyes and minds, so they too will live for eternity in his presence. Standing firm for him will not always be the ‘popular’ thing to do, sometimes it means being misunderstood and even rejected but, I’d rather carry the truth and face opposition than live in silence and lose my faith or my walk with him. I look forward to my eternal home and I don’t want anything I do or say to change that. As it says in Matthew 25:23, I think when Charlie Kirk met Jesus face to face, he was told “well done, good and faithful servant.” I can only hope for the same greeting when I am called home.
Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For those who follow Godly paths will rest in peace when they die. Isaiah 57: 1-2
